Burg è un ottimo programma per migliorare la grafica e l’aspetto del nostro boot loader, quello che compare all’accensione del computer e ci permette di scegliere a quale sistema operativo accedere.

Per installarlo aggiungiamo i repository:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Aggiungendo queste righe:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bean123ch/burg/ubuntu lucid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bean123ch/burg/ubuntu lucid main

Ora aggiorniamo la lista.

sudo apt-get update

e installiamolo

sudo apt-get install burg

Ora settiamo il luogo dove è installato il boot

sudo burg-install "(hd0)"

nel mio caso è (hd0), per scoprire il vostro non dovete far altro che andarlo a vedere su gparted.

Ora è tutto installato e pronto per la configurazione, editiamo quindi il file:

sudo gedit /etc/default/burg

Che sarà tipo questo:

I campi in rosso permettono rispettivamente di modificare il tempo prima dell’avvio automatico, la risoluzione e il tema.

La lista dei temi la potete trovare  in questa cartella:

boot/burg/themes/

Scrivendo il nome della cartelle di cui volete provare il tema. Poi date un bel:

sudo update-burg

ed infine un:

sudo burg-emu

Per provarlo.

Per nascondere i kernel doppi o le vecchie versioni basta premere f.

Mentre premendo il tasto t possiamo cambiare il tema nella preview senza per forza dover uscire.
